To The Pointe Faculty

The faculty of To The Pointe is devoted to the well-being and development of young people. Their desire is to pass on their love of the arts to the students. Each faculty member may be emailed by clicking on their name below.


Lauren Yerby - Artistic Director/Owner

Lauren PhotoLauren opened To The Pointe Dance & Arts Academy in July 2003.  She is a 2002 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in Economics and Political Science.  Beginning her dance training at the age of five and dancing competitively at eleven, she has studied all forms of dance with an emphasis on Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Modern.  In addition to studying at various dance studios, Lauren spent a summer at the highly selective North Carolina Governor's School intensively studying dance.  She has also studied under dance professionals such as Frank Hatchett, Joe Tremaine, Jimmy Tate, and many more.

While a student at UNC, Lauren danced with Carolina Style Dance Company.  During her tenure with Carolina Style, she founded the Ballet Company, served as the company's Special Publicity Chair for one year, Treasurer for two years, Ballet Director for one year, and President for one year.  Under her direction, Carolina Style had its most successful year including a performance at UNC's largest performance venue.  After graduation, Lauren took a job as a Branch Manager with First Union but continued to take dance classes and worked with the dance team at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.


Alicia Curtis - Instructor

Alicia Curtis is a 2005 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science.  A dancer since the age of three, Alicia began dancing competitively at the age of nine. She received her early dance training with the Gary Walker Dance Academy and the Dance Center in Spruce Pine, North Carolina where she studied ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, and hip-hop.  She has taught tap and jazz as an assistant instructor for the last 4 years at various studios through out the state and is considered a guest performer/choreographer with the High Country Youth Ballet.  

Alicia also studied at the School for Gifted Students in the Arts in Brevard, NC where she studied ballet and modern under Ann Dunn.  She also attended intensives with the Atlanta Ballet and the Ballet Magnificat, a tributary to the Moscow Ballet.  In addition to her ballet training, she has studied tap, jazz, lyrical and modern with Joe Tremaine, Michael Minnery, Julie Walters, and Beverly Shurley.  While in college Alicia danced with Carolina Style Dance Company’s Tap and Jazz companies.  She also served as Carolina Style’s co-Business Manager for the 2004-2005 season.  

In addition to teaching at To The Pointe, Alicia is currently working as a Medical Technologist at UNC Hospitals.


Tara Beth Warrick - Instructor

Tara Beth is a 2007 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Biology. A gymnast and cheerleader since the age of 8, Tara Beth began her dance training in high school focusing in Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern and Musical Theater Production. Prior to college, Tara Beth attended and taught at The Academy of Performing Arts for four years under the direction of Broadway’s Beth Mayo.

While at UNC, Tara Beth was a member of Star Heels Dance Team. As a choreographer for three years and president for two, Tara Beth was excited to institute the team’s service initiative and introduce a dance camps project. During her presidency, Tara Beth earned the Star Heels university funding and saw great growth in both membership and talent on the team.

In addition to teaching at To The Pointe, Tara Beth will begin graduate school the fall to earn a Masters of Occupational Health from UNC-Chapel Hill.


Anne Kenyon - Instructor

Anne Jacobs Kenyon is a 1996 graduate of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio with a MS in Adult Fitness and Sports Physiology. She began dancing ballet at age 4 and continued with the Annalise von Oettingen’s School of Ballet in Cincinnati, Ohio until she was 13. As a high school student she danced on the dance team and in the musical theater program. She studied as a dance minor at Ohio University until changing her focus to exercise physiology.

As an exercise physiologist, Anne has taught exercise and movement classes at the Duke Center for Living for the past 12 years. During this time she has had the opportunity to obtain training in Spinning, dance aerobics, water aerobics, pre and postnatal exercise, and pilates. Anne is trained under the Physical Mind Institute in Mat Pilates. She is excited to be able to combine her background in dance and her passion for exercise and wellness to teach classes at To The Pointe!
